Daily Devotions: Our Protector

From Fire Yourself by Willy Stewart & Theresa Allen

Psalm 32:7 (NIV): “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.”

It is a natural instinct when we are down or in distress to go into our hiding place, our own cave. We retreat to that place where we can be with ourselves away from the world and away from trouble. Unfortunately, when we do this, we do it in a selfish way, for self-protection. The Lord is telling us that it is in Him where we can find protection from troubles; He is our hiding place. He is the light of the world. He is the one who will light up our darkness and our path; and He is the one who will sooth us, calm us, restore us with songs of deliverance and love, and with songs that bring peace to our soul. We don’t have to go through life’s troubles alone. We don’t have to reach out far for help or assistance, because He is next to us. We just need to seek shelter in Him and be strengthened by our Father’s abundant love.

You are safe in Christ today!
