Daily Devotions: Purpose

From Fire Yourself by Willy Stewart & Theresa Allen

Psalm 138:8 (ESV): “The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.”

Perhaps there are times when you have asked yourself the question,“Why was I born?” That is not uncommon. There is something in all of mankind that longs for a sense of purpose in life … a reason for being. The Bible teaches that everything that was made comes from God, is sustained by God, and is for God (Colossians 1:16). The Creator is so intentional about His creation that He planned out all the days of your life (Psalm 139:16). You can trust that God had a reason for making you. Even more, He will prepare you for His purpose. Be aware, though, you will not be able to fulfill His purpose for your life on your own. But when you have surrendered to God’s will for your life, nothing (no man nor personal failures) can stop God’s plan for you! How comforting to know that God can be trusted to finish the good work He started in you (Philippians 1:6).

Be surrendered to God’s purpose for your life today!
