From Fire Yourself by Willy Stewart & Theresa Allen

Matthew 5:14-16 (ESV): “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Imagine standing in a dark room. Then, all of a sudden, someone lights a candle. What happens? That small little flickering flame begins to illuminate the room. Before long, you can see around you, thanks to the light. This is the image that should come to mind when we think about being a light for Christ. We may see ourselves as small and insignificant, not having a lot of wealth or resources to offer others. The one thing we can do, though, is reflect Christ. In all that we say and do, we can allow the flame of the Holy Spirit to flicker in us. Before long, you will notice that the people around you are drawn to His light within you. Someone may stop by your desk to ask if they can share a personal burden with you. Someone may comment on how you always seem to “brighten the room” whenever you enter. Perhaps others will say, “There is just something about you.” Whatever the response, the encounter is the same … Jesus. He is the light of the world and the light within you. Let Him shine brightly through you. No matter how small you may feel in the grand scheme of life, your little light can be a beacon for Christ.

Shine brightly for Christ today!
