Daily Devotions: WEAPON OF PEACE

From Fire Yourself by Willy Stewart & Theresa Allen

2 Corinthians 10:4 (NIV): “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.”

Over the history of the world, mankind has waged war against each other in the name of religion or a god, probably more so than any other reason. Today, the uprisings in Africa, in the Middle East, and in other places around the world are rooted in religious beliefs. In this country we still fight wars of prejudice, social injustice and rabid crime in certain areas. Paul is teaching us that the weapons we should fight with are the weapons of peace, love, humility and care. These are the divine powers that disarm; these are the weapons we need to bring to battle every day. Because when we armor ourselves with these powers and we have the Lord by our side, we are unconquerable; we can’t be defeated. We have already surrendered to the Almighty; we already belong to his army; and we already belong to his omnipotent power.

As we face today and every day, be mindful of the gift of peace that we have been entrusted with, and let us spread it in our world; let us be the change in this world. We cannot control what others do or why they do it, we can only control what we do and how we do it; so let’s put on the armor of peace, let’s make a difference in this world, and let’s do it for His glory.

Be a peacemaker today!
